After breakfast transfer to Habarana, en-route visit the Government run Elephant Orphanage where babies abandoned or lost by the herd are cared for and trained. Clients could witness the bottle feeding and bathing of baby Elephants. Habarana is the hub of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle. Breakfast at the hotel. Excursion to Sigiriya Rock Fortress of Sigiriya – This World Heritage site, a spectacular Rock Fortresses is one of Sri Lanka’s major attractions. The most impressive facts of the unique complex are the Water Gardens, the Frescoes of beautiful maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, the Lion platform and the Summit of 1.6 hectares, which was completely covered by buildings during the period of Sigiriya’s glory. Post breakfast excursion to Anuradhapura. Spend the day exploring this ancient city spread out over a large area. Begin at the Thuparama Dagoba. Admire the 3rd century Samadi Buddha and the guard stone at the entrance to Ratna Prasada. Stop at the Sri Maha Bodi. Returning back to Dambulla stop at the water tank of Kalawewa. Leave for Kandy visiting a spice garden to see spices growing in their natural habitat and a batik factory to witness the manufacture of hand made batik’s en-route. This lovely city, the Hill Capital and last stronghold of the Sinhala Kings retains an aura of grandeur, which time has not affected. Encircled by hills, with a tranquil lake in its center, it is the site of the renowned “Temple of the Tooth” and the Royal Botanical Gardens, home to one of the best collections of Orchids. Kandy and its satellite villages are the center of the islands handicrafts industry andits traditional dances are the most spectacular in the country. P.M. Visit the Temple of the Tooth and late evening witness a cultural performance. Overnight at the hotel.
Kandy
Post breakfast sightseeing of Kandy including visits to the Royal Botanical Gardens – once a pleasure garden of our ancient Queens, it has a wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and indigenous flora. The garden’s specialty is an Orchid House which contains one of the largest collections in Asia. Also, explore the Arts & Crafts workshops, Market Places and Bazaar areas. Overnight at the hotel.
Kandy – Nuwara Eliya
Morning proceed to Nuwara Eliya visiting a Tea Plantation to see how tea is plucked and a Factory to witness the processing of the raw green leaf to the final graded product. Nuwara Eliya is the heart of Sri Lankan hill country, it is the home of the famous Ceylon Tea and the rolling mountains are a carpet of velvety green tea plantations, interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling waterfalls. Post breakfast proceed for city tour of Galle. At the heart of Galle is the Galle Fort. Our carefully designed walking tour begins at the fort. In addition to the historical buildings, there are administrative offices, courts, and export companies housed within its walls. Walk to the Dutch Period Museum. There are usually craftspeople working on the veranda and in the courtyard of the house. Overnight at the hotel.
